Alan Earl
Dacy
Nov 27, 1946 — May 17, 2021
On Monday, May 17, 2021, Alan Earl Dacy, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 74. Alan was born on November 27, 1946 in Beverly, MA to Earl and Josephine Dacy. He received his BA in Economics from Northeastern University in 1969. While at North Eastern he interned at Honeywell and after graduation went on to work in management there for many years. He then went on to become a top salesperson and sales department manager at American Alarm & Instant Signal & Alarm. In retirement he enjoyed working part time at Kittery Trading Post where he made many friends. On June 25, 1988 he married Lynne Elisabeth Anderson. Together they had one child, Nathan Alan Dacy.
Alan was a loving and passionate man who had many interests and hobbies. Never one to shy away from a challenge he undertook many projects lesser men would have thought too difficult. This included a complete restoration of a 1969 Columbia 22 sailboat, named The Dragon Fly, which came out beautifully and provided many hilarious moments. He was also fond of his 1979 Triumph Spitfire with which he would frequently drive around town and loved to work on and restore with his son, Nathan. Truly gifted with a craftsman's hands and the ability to teach himself anything he would often engage in spontaneous woodworking, gardening and landscaping projects which never ceased to impress.
Alan also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, whether it was simply sitting at home with a drink laughing and telling stories or out walking at local conservation lands and parks with his wife and two Saint Bernard's. He was always delighted to tell anyone he met about his great big dogs and often had pictures ready to go. He also had a great many wild stories from his childhood and college days that would make those lucky enough to hear them wonder when the feature film would be coming out. He always looked forward to his frequent conversation with his best friend Ed Richards, whom he had been friends with since college.
We will never forget his quick wit and beautiful smile. Alan will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. He is survived by his wife Lynne, son Nathan, and puppies Thor & Freyja. A private family celebration of life will be held in lieu of a service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association at lung.org. Care of the Dacy family has been entrusted to the J S Pelkey and Son Funeral Home.
