Somersworth- Alphonse A. Lapointe , 88 , of Somersworth, NH died suddenly at Wentworth Douglass Hospital on July 21, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Sanford ME on March 30,1927, the son of Alphonse Lapointe and Albina (Vachon) Lapointe. He graduated from St Vincent de Paul boarding school, Sacred Heart College and St Francis College. He proudly served in the US Army in the Signal Corp in Germany during WWII. Al worked as a shoe salesman and at GE prior to a 40 year career as a supply warehouseman and foreman at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Following his retirement in 1990, Alphonse loved spending even more of his time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Pepere was very loving and lots of fun! He was a lifelong communicant of St Martin Church, served as Eucharistic minister and belonged to the Our Lady of the Roses prayer group. He was a member of the American Legion Post 69 Somersworth and received a quilt of valor. Alphonse loved to spend time with his family. He was always ready to travel at a moments notice. He was an avid reader and puzzle maker. Alphonse loved lobster! Alphonse was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Jeannette Lapointe, his parents and sister Anita. He is survived by his children Claire and Norman Menard of Berwick, ME, David and Deb Lapointe of Farmington NH, Philip Lapointe of Somersworth, NH and Diane and Brian McHugh of Glen, NH. , ten grandchildren Valerie and Brad, Toshia, Stephanie and Sal, Joshua and Molly, Eric and Jill, Jason and Maureen, Karina, Matthew, Jeremy and Bethany , 5 great grandchildren Gavin, Gabriel, Eva, Mayah, Olivia and many friends, nieces and nephews. Friends may visit with Alphonse's family from. 5-7 in the Bernier Funeral Home 49 South St Somersworth NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 am in St. Martin's Church in Somersworth.
