Andrew T.
Dudek
Mar 19, 1942 — Aug 15, 2016
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Andrew "Andy" T. Dudek, 74, of Eliot, Maine and formerly of Chelmsford, Massachusetts on August 15, 2016. He was the beloved husband and best friend of 51 years of Nancy T. Dudek.
Andy was born on March 19, 1942 in Norwich, Connecticut, the son of the late Alexandria and Thomas Dudek. Andy graduated from Norwich Free Academy and Lowell Technical Institute. He furthered his education, earning two master's degrees, one in Computer Science and the other in Business Administration. He began his career at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, working as a Chemical Engineer on the Apollo Project. Andy subsequently pursued a career as a Marketing Representative and Systems Engineer with the IBM Corporation, retiring after thirty years of service. After retiring from IBM, Andy continued working for fifteen years as a Project Manager with the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, retiring once again in 2008.
Andy truly enjoyed his retirement years in a myriad of ways. This included extensive travel, visiting forty-nine countries and all fifty states. He also treasured his time spent with Nancy, as they meticulously designed and built their 18th century reproduction home in Eliot, Maine. Andy was a man of many talents and interests. He was an accomplished woodworker, artist, and historian. His love of history knew no bounds, and he thoroughly enjoyed sharing his knowledge and storytelling with others. He enthusiastically participated in the Bicentennial celebration as a member of the Chelmsford Colonial Minutemen and as a Grenadier with His Majesty's 10th Regiment of Foot.
Andy is survived by his children, Jonathan A. Dudek of Cutler, Maine; Amy K. Gerrish and her husband, Jason, of Dunstable, Massachusetts; and a brother, Robert P. Dudek, of Edgewood, Maryland. Andy's spirit and love for life lives on in his beautiful grandchildren, Nathaniel A. Dudek, Samuel G. Dudek, Alexandra M. Gerrish, and Jack T. Gerrish. Andy's warmth and generosity touched the lives of many close friends and those who had the privilege of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Andy's memory to The Next Step Domestic Violence Project, C/O Tammy Denning, Residential Services Coordinator, P.O. Box 303, Machias, Maine 04654.
It being Andy's request, there will not be any calling hours, and his burial will be private. The family cordially invites friends and those who knew Andy to celebrate his life on Friday, September 16, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. at the Portsmouth Country Club, 80 County Club Lane, Greenland, NH 03840.
