Portsmouth-Anne C. Cullen, 94 of Codfish Corner Road in Portsmouth died on April 28, 2016 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital following a period of failing health.
Born in Whitensville Mass on March 27, 1922 she was a daughter of the late Jess C. and Edith Hayden. She attended schools in Uxbridge Massachusetts graduating from Uxbridge high school in 1941.
Anne was married in 1945 to her loving husband Wilbur H. Cullen, he predeceased her in 1965. They had made their home in Kittery for many years raising their family.
Following the passing of her husband, Anne made her home for a time in Texas before returning in 1977 and making her home in Portsmouth where she resided until her passing.
Anne had a very strong work ethic beginning with her work as a waitress at the Seagull Diner in Kittery for more than nine years working with the Stadig family, serving local families and travelers alike. She then began an over thirty year career serving families and tourists at the Weathervane Seafood Restaurant in Kittery, where she was thought of by many of her coworkers, patrons and the Gagner family as her own family for many years. Anne Reluctantly retired from waitressing at the age of eighty seven years old.
She is survived by her loving family, son Roger and his wife Diane Cullen of Eliot, son Kevin Cullen of Kittery, son Richard and his wife Susie Cullen of Texas, daughter Debbie L. Burnett of Portsmouth and a son Gary Cullen of Kittery. She enjoyed seven grand and fourteen great grandchildren.
Friends are invited to visit with Anne's family on Tuesday May 3, 2016 from 3-6pm in the JS Pelkey Funeral Home 125 Old Post Road Kittery Maine 03904. A funeral will be celebrated on Wednesday at 1pm in the funeral home with burial to follow at Brooks Memorial Park in Eliot. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.jspelkeyfuneralhome.com.
