South
Berwick-Apicella,
Anthony J., "Tony" at 81 years of age, beloved husband of 51 years to Ruth "Ruthie" (Horrigan) Apicella of South Berwick, Maine died peacefully at home on Tuesday January 9, 2024.
Born and raised in Malden, MA. He was the son of the late Louis and Antoinette (Itrato) Apicella. He attended The Lynn Classical Trade School in Lynn, MA. He worked as a machinist and spent 32 years at The Portsmouth Naval Shipyard where he made lots of friends. Anthony, Ruthie and their daughter Lisa moved up to South Berwick, Maine in 1986 so Anthony could be closer to work. He was known for his love of cars and keeping them showroom new. He could talk endlessly about the newest model he was interested in or his Cadillac with it's V8 engine. He had a kind gentle heart, a sweet shy smile, a great love of all animals and the incredible ability to always hold on to hope. Anthony fought a long hard battle with dementia and could not be counted out. He had many strong come backs from illness the past few years. He will be greatly missed by everyone that loved him. He was a loving husband, father, brother, friend and to his grandchildren "Bampa".
