Antoinette “Toni”
Larochelle Guilmette
Jun 28, 1933 — Aug 3, 2023
Somersworth- Antoinette "Toni" (Larochelle) Guilmette, 90, formerly of High Street in Somersworth died Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Dover Center for Health with her family by her side.
A lifelong resident of Somersworth she was born on June 28,1933 a daughter of the late Adolph and Leontine (Bussiere) Larochelle.
Toni attended local schools graduating from Somersworth High School in 1952. In 1955 she married her loving husband, Bernard Guilmette, and together they raised their family and were active in the community for many years.
Toni was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an active member of her church, St. Martins in Somersworth. A self described homemaker, her home was immaculate and impeccably decorated as she hosted the "aunts" for cards and the "gang" for celebrations.
In addition, while raising her family, she worked various jobs at the University of New Hampshire, Somersworth City Hall, Sawyer Mills, Janco and General Electric. These jobs helped ensure that her children had what they needed, enjoyed wonderful family vacations or went to college. In retirement she worked her final job at Filene's where she enjoyed talking to the customers and selling them fashion accessories that they "really" needed.
She also grew to enjoy golf, both the sport and the social activities that went with a golf membership. She was a member for many years at Cocheco Country Club where she played in the women's league and was involved in organizing and planning various tournaments. Friendships from these times were everlasting.
For several years, she became a "snowbird" in Florida to escape the New England winter weather. While there she enjoyed spending time with her beloved brother and his wife and many good friends. She played a lot of golf and also hosted her children and grandchildren.
As Toni's memory slowly faded, it became difficult for her to navigate on her own. Her family greatly appreciates the staff of Brookdale Spruce Wood in Durham, NH and Cornerstone VNA Hospice for the wonderful care given to her for many years. She recently was transferred to Dover Center for Health and the family appreciates the staff for her care until the end of life.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was pre-deceased by her brother Raymond (Blanche) Larochelle.
Toni is survived by her children, Patricia and son in-law, John Bond, of Dover, Ken Guilmette of Rochester, Judy Odom of Bow and Greg Guilmette and daughter in-law Cora Grippo of Somersworth; her seven grandchildren whom she adored, Ian and Patrick Bond, Corey (Stephanie) Guilmette, Ryan (Cristina) and Shelby Odom and Tucker and Cooper Guilmette; three great grandchildren, Harper Odom, Penelope, Brody Guilmette and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday September 18th at 1030am at St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish in St. Martin Church. Burial in Mt Calvary Cemetery and a gathering for fellowship and refreshment will follow.
