Avis L. (McKenney) Pratt, 91, widow of Francis C. Pratt, died Wednesday, July 13th, at Varney Crossing Nursing Care Center, North Berwick, Maine, following a period of failing health.

Avis was born August 15, 1924, in her Eliot home, one of 11 children born to Chester and Georgiana(Place) McKenney.

Avis graduated from Eliot High School, she worked well into her 70's, first at Halpern Cleaners, Davidson Rubber, Warehouse Restaurant, and for many years at the Blue Roof Motel in Kittery.

Avis enjoyed her retirement years, especially her family. She did make a few trips to Florida, including a Disney cruise with husband Francis, son Robert and wife Debby, grandson Tom and wife Kim and Debby's mom Jeanette Paul.

Avis is survived by her loving family, son Robert Stephens and wife Debby from Brandon, Florida, son Ronald Stephens and wife Noriko from Eliot, son Richard Pratt and wife Traci from Barrington. By her Grandsons, Tom Stephens from Florida, Paul Smith from Texas and Patrick Smith from Barrington. Great granddaughters Hailie Hogan from New York and Alexa Stephens from Florida. A sister, Marjorie Bell, from North Berwick, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Avis is predeceased by her husband, Francis, 9 brothers and sisters, and granddaughter Shannon Pratt.

Services: a time of visitation will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016 from 12 – 1pm where a funeral will immediately follow at 1pm at the J. S. Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road, Kittery, Maine 03904. Interment will follow at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Eliot.
