Somersworth- Barbara Ruth Dudley,80, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family on Sunday November 7th.

She was born on November 28th 1940 to Herman (Red) Canney and Rachael Weeks.

She graduated from Somersworth high school in 1958.

She was best known as the assistant librarian in the Rochester school system, where she worked for over 30 years.

Barbara was a beloved wife, mom, Grammie, GG, Aunty and friend to so many. Her love had no boundaries. There were so many whom she took under her wing.

She especially loved babies, they brought her so much joy. She loved to shop for little baby outfits as well as knit the most amazing little hooded sweaters, bibs and booties. So many babies over the years have been snuggled in the warmth of her knitting and love.

Barbara absolutely loved to entertain. Whether there was an occasion to be celebrated such as a birthday or graduation or just to have family and friends together to enjoy the pool or lake , Barbara was the ultimate hostess. Christmas was her favorite and she would go all out. Decorating everything and every space. Hosting multitudes of Christmas parties and making sure everyone had a gift.

Barbara is survived by her devoted husband Carroll. The love they have for each other is a beautiful thing.

Her children Leanne Schwartz, Gregg Fournier and wife Rachel, Keith Fournier, Mark Dudley and wife Kim, Todd Dudley, Jeff Dudley and Missy Dudley.

Grandchildren Tanya Ufkin and husband Gary, Heidi Fournier, Kevin Michael Schwartz and fiancée Leah, Maureen Dudley and fiancé Paul Capezzone, Barbara Schwartz, Heather McDaniel and husband Shayne, Sarah Fournier and fiancée Conrad, Bethany Fournier, Mathew Dudley, Morgan Dudley and Nicole Dudley.

Great Grandchildren Ciara Baillargeon, Isabelle Ufkin, Ariana Baillargeon and Trinity Baillargeon.

So many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and loving friends.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents and siblings Peggy Flanagan, Herman (Fudda) Canney and Nancie Canney.

Services – A memorial service will be held for Barbara on Friday, 11/12/2021, at 4pm with a time of visitation and reception to follow at the First Parish United Church of Christ, 176 W High St, Somersworth, NH 03878.
