Barbara Garcia of York, Maine, passed away with her family by her side on February 27, 2024, at York Hospital.
Barbara was born on February 18, 1930, to Charles Johnson and Mary Gregg in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. When she was ten, she moved to Vancouver, where she grew up. Later, while in Nelson, a town in British Columbia, she met Joseph Garcia Jr., whom she married on February 27, 1949. They moved to southern New Hampshire, and together, they raised their children, Joseph and Michelle.  Barbara's occupation was in banking, and she was active in church and community activities.
Barbara loved to dance and listened to jazz music every chance she got. In her mid-40s, you could find her playing golf, which she was exceedingly good at, and she continued to play and compete in local tournaments until she was 89. Barbara was an elite card player, and she played weekly right up until her passing. Barbara and Joseph traveled internationally as much as they could, and she made great, lasting friendships in different countries along the way due to her effervescent personality.
Barbara is survived by her children, Joseph and Michelle; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
