Obituary

Barbara Gauthier- Born in Eliot, Maine on December 30, 1924, died on July 21, 2017 at the age of 92 yrs in EMMC Bangor, Maine. Barbara was an ovarian cancer survivor for the past fourteen years. In recent months, she had declining health issues which lead to a heart attack. She was predeceased by; her parents Giles and Marion Fernald, her sister Lillian Bruso of AZ, sister Margaret Willis of FL, brother Gordon Fernald of Eliot,ME, husbands Norman R. Searles and Raymond L. Gauthier, and her son-in-law Merrill R. Crosby.

She is survived by her children; Keith Searles and wife Toni of Eliot, David Searles and wife Margaret of Marshfield, MA, Pamela Theobald and husband Richard of Lincoln, ME, Anita Crosby and partner David Lamontagne of Eliot, ME, and close family friend Pamela Newland of Eliot,ME.

Barbara was blessed with 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; Norman Searles and wife Stephanie of Eliot, ME, Brian Searles of Marshfield, MA, Norma Bartlett, husband Andy, and their two children Katherine and Vincent of England, Samuel Theobald of Lincoln, ME, Amanda Crosby and partner Keith Downing and their daughter Merrillyn of Princeton, ME, Benjamin Crosby of Eliot, ME and Jacob Crosby of Eliot, ME.

Barbara grew up in Eliot, ME, and worked at several jobs in the area: Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Eliot Drug, Harbor Home, Riverside Rest Home, MicroMed,Kittery Outlets, and as a personal care attendant and housekeeper for many local families before retiring. She moved to Cheektowaga, NY for a few years to live near her daughter Pamela, and recently moved back to Maine to live in Lincoln.

Barbara was an avid reader and enjoyed all types of literature, spending time with her family, and pets. She loved the bloom of spring flowers and Christmastime festivities. Her sense of humor gave everyone around her a good laugh, and she would never turn down a donut and coffee! She will be missed dearly by all.
