Barbara C MacKenzie, 84, of Eliot, ME passed away peacefully on December 20th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at Pinnacle Health in Sanford, ME, where she had been a resident for over 2 years. Barbara was born on January 16, 1941, in Portsmouth, NH, the third of six children to Hector MacKenzie Sr and Marguerite (Swett) MacKenzie. She remained especially close to her siblings throughout her life. Family gatherings were one of her greatest joys, next to spoiling her grandchildren of course.

Barbara lived and worked in Portsmouth, NH, managing the snack bar at Pic-n-pay (Hannaford) for 43 years, where many enjoyed her cooking. A large picture of her grandchildren was always proudly displayed on top of the milk cooler for all to see. After completing her bucket list and retiring, she moved to Eliot, ME to live with her daughter, Donna, and family.  Because of the many years of Donna's and families' dedicated care, she was able to happily reside with her while her Alzheimer's progressed until she needed the specialized care of the exceptional staff of Pinnacle Health.

Barbara kept the ability to make everyone laugh until the very end.   She became known as the Angel Lady as she would give out pocket angels to all first responders and anyone she thought could use one.  If she told you to call her Nana, that meant you were family.

Barbara leaves behind her loving daughter Donna and her husband Raymond Goodwin. She was a loving Nana to grandchildren Kevin and Kristina Goodwin of Eliot Me, Shawn and Amy Goodwin of Sanford Me, Jordan and Alexis Evwynne of Western MA and Great Grandchildren Brittany, MacKenzie and Collin Goodwin of Eliot, ME.

She leaves behind a sister Sharon and her husband Vincent Hunkins of Greenland and her brother Howard MacKenzie of Milton, NH and sister-in-law Lorraine Mackenzie of Eliot, ME. In addition, "Auntie Barb" was a funny loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.

She is predeceased by her parents, brother Hector (Bob) James and his wife Gail Mackenzie.  Sister Marguerite (Sis) and her husband Bob Fournier.

A celebration of life will be held on January 16, 2026 (her Birthday) at 3:00pm. Followed by her favorite foods at the church's fellowship hall.
