Barbara J. St. Gelais, 80, of Portsmouth, N.H., died on January 23, 2024. Barbara passed away peacefully after a 10 year battle with Parkinson's disease surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born in Wolfeboro, N.H., the daughter of Florence (Harmon) Drew and Ernest Hersey. She was a graduate of Brewster Academy, Wolfeboro, N.H., in 1961.

She was a "homebody", her home and family meant everything to her. She loved gardening, baking, and summer vacationing at Moody Beach and Fortunes Rocks Beach in Maine.

She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Gerard, her son Jeremy St. Gelais of Dover, N.H., her daughter, Lisa Baker, and her husband, Scott, of South Berwick, Maine. She has two grandchildren, Alex and Sara Baker, also of South Berwick, Maine.

There will be no calling hours. A committal service will be held on Friday April 12, 2024 at 10:30 at Calvary Cemetary in Portsmouth, N.H.

Care of the St.Gelais family is entrusted to the JS Pelkey and Son Funeral Home.
