Kittery - Barbara Mae Tapley, 93 of Oak Terrace died on April 21,2018 in Kittery. A true native of Kittery Barbara was born, raised and attended local schools in Kittery. She was a daughter of Harold and Blanche (Avery) Chase.
She met and married her loving husband Hollis K.Tapley and together they made a home and raised their children on Oak Terrace.
She was an active member of St. Marks United Methodist Church and was well known for her home made pies for the church fish chowder dinners. She enjoyed bingo and loved her dog Gizmo. Her first love was unquestionably her family, she loved being a wife, mother and grand mother. A strong woman, she was beloved by her grand and great grandchildren, with whom she was very active.
She is survived by: sons, Russell Sponsler Portland, ME, James Sponsler and wife Ginger Sponsler Orlando FL, Brian Tapley and wife Wendy Tapley Cape Neddick, ME daughters Cynthia Fielders and husband Michael Fielders Eliot ME, Brenda Benson Newmarket NH, several grand and great grand children and nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to visit with her family on Monday April 30, 2018 from 6-8pm in the JS Pelkey Funeral Home 125 Old Post Road Kittery Maine 03904. A funeral will be celebrated Tuesday May 1, 2018 at 11am in her church, St. Marks United Methodist Church on Government St in Kittery.
