Kittery, ME – Barry A. Fitzpatrick, 73, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 after a brief period of failing health. He was born February 24, 1948 to Paul and Dorothy Fitzpatrick. Barry was an experienced educator with domestic and international experience on the elementary, secondary, and collegiate levels within the public and private sectors.
Barry graduated from Springfield College with a B.S., M.Ed., Education Major. Barry taught at English High School in Boston, MA subjects of History, Theatre and Humanities. Barry taught Theatre Arts and American History at Umana Barnes Middle School, East Boston, MA as well as Associate Professor, Dept of Health, Physical Education and Recreation at Plymouth State College, Plymouth, NH. Barry served as Athletic Director, Classroom teacher, Instructor and Coach of National Swim and Diving Teams in Tehran, Iran. Barry was also very basketball virtuoso; he was the Co-Director/Event Coordinator for The First Professional Basketball All-Star Game in Athens, Greece, an instructor at The American Community Schools of Athens, Greece Academy for Men's Varsity Basketball, as well as having received numerous 1st place coaching awards in not only Greece, but in Belgium and France as well. Barry was a member of R. W. Traip Academy high school in Kittery, Class of 1966.
Amongst the many accomplishments Barry achieved in his life, one of his proudest was writing and publishing a book: "Last to Leave: A Memoir of Iran During the Revolution".
Barry is predeceased by both his parents, Dorothy and Paul. He is survived by his daughter Sarah Fitzpatrick and his sister Bonnie L. (Fitzpatrick) Bousquin.
