Somersworth - Bernard McKenney, 83 of Dover, died Thursday, April 11, 2019, at Dover Rehab following a period of failing health.

Born in Somersworth, NH, on March 26, 1936, he was the son of Bernard C. and Evelyn M. McKenney.He served in the USN from 1954-1958. He was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge in Rochester, where he raised money, for Muscular Dystrophy for many years. He was very proud of this accomplishment.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn of Dover; Daughter Maria and husband Daniel Thibodeau; Daughter Erin and husband David Ellis; 3 grandchildren Katie, Michael, Sarah, and husband Jacob Adams, and 2 great-grandchildren Lyla and Colton; Sister Patricia Beaulieu, and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, John McKenney.

Service: Calling hours will be at Bernier Funeral Home,49 South Street, Somersworth, NH from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, April 16. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish of Holy Trinity Church. 404 High St. Somersworth, NH on Wednesday, April 17 at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Bernard's name to St. Ignatius Church or to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (mda.org).
