Obituary

Kittery Point- Betty Lorraine Brown Adams, 80 of Kittery Point, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 She was born to the late Fred Brown Sr. and Ruth Clickner Brown.

Betty grew up with her 3 brothers, Bob, Fred, & Bill, in Phillipsburg New Jersey and had many dear friends and fond memories of Delaware Park. Many of her childhood friends at Delaware Park became her lifelong friends including her future sister-in-law Gloria and her twin sister Gail. Together they would spend hours playing paper dolls and going up to the circle to play.
As a teenager, highlights included going to Dick Clarks American Bandstand, Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and other Big Band Dances.

She married Gary Adams of Easton PA and they lived for a short time in Stroudsburg, PA. In 1963, they moved to Kittery Point, Maine. Betty raised 5 children guiding them to find fun in the ordinary moments and adding her own style to everyday events such as a Fourth of July BBQ and peanut scramble
She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Kittery Point for 54 years, participating as a Deacon and as a member of the Women's Club.
After the children were older she worked at the Kittery Meal Site assisting senior citizens, at Dansk, and Pease Air Force Base Then she had a successful career at the Portsmouth Post Office, "throwing mail", working in mark up, and making lasting friends

Betty loved life, adventure, and colorful fashion. She also was an avid sports fan, especially football, Red Sox and Pburg/Easton rivalry game. She was an avid backyard birdwatcher and star gazer who celebrated music and creativity. Other interests included candlepin bowling where she once bowled 150.
When the kids were young she enjoyed trips to the shore, the lake with her cousin Bernie and Marion and trips to Spring Hill. In later years, she cruised on the QE2 with her dear friend Jane Van Alst as well as several trips to Lourdes with her cousin Lorraine, friend Patty and CA folks. Trips to Paris France visiting her nephew Kirk and other fun travel adventures with friends and relatives.
One of her many gifts was kind friendship without judgement. She cared about others deeply and the details of their lives often recalling events from years ago. If you needed a person to talk to, Betty was the one. She kept the extended family connected with phone calls and letting everyone know who was doing what. She would give others empowerment to achieve what seemed impossible and words of hope in sad times.

The last several years she enjoyed visits from her many friends who supported her with love and laughter. Our family extends our thanks to the First Congregational Church for their visits and bowls of delicious soup; to Home Instead for their caring with a special appreciation to Sharon who worked many years with Mom; and to Amedisys Healthcare, with a special thanks to Brent. All of whom made Mom's life easier.
