Eliot- Betty ( Hawkins-Goodwin) Grogan, 89 of Bolt Hill Road in Eliot passed away on May 23, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 24, 1933 in Russell Massachusetts to Ted and Alberta ( Bullock ) Hawkins. She attended Eliot Schools, graduating from Eliot High School in 1953. She married James Goodwin Jr in 1951 and they had four children, two sons Ted Goodwin (wife Diane),  Gary Goodwin (wife Donna), two daughters Kathi (Goodwin) Froehling and Sandi (Goodwin) Furbish (husband Steve). In 1986 she married Ernie Grogan and gained four step children Lisa, Shane, Richard, and Bethany. Surviviors include her children and a very dear sister Bobbie Gosselin as well as many grand, great and great great grandchildren and very special nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by her twin brother Steve, both husbands and her sister Norma Fedora and son in law John Froehling.

Betty was active in her community coaching basketball which she enjoyed playing as a varsity basketball player in school, she was a cornerstone of her church directing the Junior Choir, singing in the senior choir and working as a secretary at the Eliot Elementary school as well as York Hospital for many years. She was a recipient of the Fabian Drake Award as Eliots Citizen of the year for her dedication to her community.

A memorial service will be celebrated on Thursday June 1, 2023 at 11am in her church, The First Congregational Church of Eliot, UCC 1361 State Road Eliot Maine 03904. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.jspelkeyfuneralhome.com, In lieu of flowers donations may be made to her church.
