Somersworth - Beulah (Bernie) Jelley, 70, of Somersworth, NH passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Hyder House on Sunday, August 19, 2018 after an extended illness.

Bernie was born on September 25, 1947 in Rochester, NH, the daughter of the late Rose (Sevigny) & Patrick Saucier. She graduated from Somersworth High School in 1965. She held several professional jobs including the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, WOKQ Radio, and retired from the State of New Hampshire Department of Labor.

Bernie loved Somersworth. She was one of the original members of the Somersworth Children's Festival, served on the Somersworth School Board & was a monitor for Ward 1. She lived a great and full life.

She enjoyed playing bingo with friends in Concord, NH, loved reading, and spending time with her family. She loved her grandchildren very much & loved watching them grow from infants to young ladies. She crocheted & knitted afghans, baby sweaters, booties & hats, donating many.

Bernie is survived by her husband & best friend of 53 years Robert A Jelley; her son Robert A. Jelley Jr. & wife Bianca of Dover, NH; son Patrick Jelley; daughter SueAnn Weir & significant other Danny Turgeon of Newport Richey, FL; four grandchildren Angela Rose Weir, Brianna Elizabeth Jelley, Rain Ashley Jelley, Hannah Nicole Jelley; sister Patricia Goulet & husband Richard of South Berwick, ME; sister Susan Williams & husband Michael of South Berwick, ME; brother Eric Saucier & significant other Laurie Douglass Paul of Berwick, ME; sister-in-law Judy Stearns of Holiday, FL; sister-in-law Suzanne Bernier & husband Jimmy of Holiday, FL; brother-in-law Michael Jelley & wife Sarah of Atlanta, GA; sister-in-law Mary T. Barnett of Holiday, FL; and several nieces & nephews.

Bernie was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her brother Kevin Saucier, and sister-in-law Frances Marston.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, Constellation Hospice Services, and the Hyder House hospice & palliative care for their support in her final days.

Services: Visitation will be held Thursday, August 23rd from 4 to 6pm, Bernier Funeral Home, 49 South Street, Somersworth, NH. A Memorial Mass will be held at St Ignatius of Loyola Parish, Holy Trinity Church, 404 High Street, Somersworth, NH, Friday, August 24, at 10am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Bernie to Friends of Hyder Family Hospice House, 285 County Farm Road, Dover, NH 03820.
