Brenda
Lawrence
Aug 10, 1943 — Apr 8, 2023
Brenda "Bunny" Elaine (Pierce) Lawrence, 79 of South Berwick Maine and former resident of Kittery Maine passed away April 8, 2023 at her home in loving care of her loving, devoted husband Walter, her children and special companion "Fifi" her fierce protector to the very end.
Brenda is survived by her husband of 62 years Walter A. Lawrence Jr, her children; Angela Lawrence, Debbra and husband David Obertanec, Paul Lawrence, Patricia Amergian and spouse Greg Hoffses, Steven Lawrence and wife Kimberly, grandchildren; Kyle Amergian, Meg Bohne, Katherine "Katie" Bohne, Haley Lawrence, Hayden Lawrence, and Kendall Lawrence. She also leaves behind her dogs Fifi & Oliver and 3 kitties Silly, Lily & Nala.
Brenda was born the daughter of Evelyn (Junkins) Pierce and William Everett Pierce on August 10, 1943 at the Pierce family farm on Wilson Road in Kittery, she was the fourth of seven children, survived by her two younger sisters Marilyn "Me Me" Collins and Donna Johnson and pre-deceased by her brother Robert "Bobby" Pierce and sisters; Evelyn "Honey" Beckert, Carolyn "Sissy" Leavitt, and Beverly "Cookie" Webster.
Brenda attended Kittery schools, graduating from R.W. Traip Academy in 1961 and married "the love of her life" Walter "Butch" Lawrence on June 26, 1961 while he was enlisted in the Marine Corps. Together they purchased their family home and settled down on Haley Road in Kittery where they raised their family and created many special memories. Once the "nest" was empty and she retired from Royal Doulton China as a store and Regional Manager after many years they converted their home into the "Chick-a-dee Bed & Breakfast" hosting guests from around the world, many becoming life-long friends. Eventually selling their home and settling down again in South Berwick.
Brenda's greatest joy was certainly her family, she was a most loving and attentive wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all who were fortunate enough to be a part of her life. She looked forward to holidays with family and friends, she loved to laugh and dance, her grandchildren will always remember her singing "dance, dance, dance with your Nana" and reminding them to make sure any jewelry they wore should be Nickel Free! She had the greatest legs and wasn't afraid to show them off!
Brenda enjoyed reading a good book, making quilts, cross-stitch, and gardening, she was a master of African Violets which she learned from her mother and preached "always water them from the bottom!". She couldn't curl her tongue but never stopped trying. Most of all she was patient, kind and loving and will be painfully missed every single day by her family until we can be together again.
The family would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to Dr. Shankar & his team at Seacoast Cancer Center at Wentworth Douglas Hospital and Cornerstone Hospice and Palliative Care for the loving empathy and care and guidance throughout.
Friends are invited to visit with Brenda's family from 10am to noon on April 18, 2023 in the JS Pelkey and Son Funeral Home where a memorial service will be celebrated at noon.
