Eliot-Calista A Baker, 80 of Eliot died on October 11, 2019 at Evolve At Rye, peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Eliot on April 23, 1939 she was a daughter to Guy and Hazel ( Grover ) Place. She attended local schools graduating from Eliot High School.
On March 2, 1957 she married her loving husband of over fifty two years James Baker and together they made their home as a military family in Puerto Rico for a time before returning to the Seacoast where they would settle in Eliot and raise their family.
Following retirement she and Jim travelled together across the country and enjoyed many trips together. Her faith was an important part of her life, supporting the missions of her church and the local food pantry's. Her first love however was her family, she enjoyed watching her grand children and great grandchildren grow and being a part of their lives.
Calista is survived by her brothers, Arthur Place and wife Renee, Ronald Place and wife Susan; and her children, Cindy Melton and husband James, Peggy Adams and husband Bob, James Baker Jr and wife Tanya, Michael Baker and wife Chanantorn, grandchildren; Sonia, Anissa, Anthony, Benjamin, Natalie, Robyn, Christine, Olivia, Elizabeth and Brandon, and her 18 great-grandchildren, and sisters in law Bobbie Place and Jean Place, a brother in law Mike LaMontagne and many nieces and nephews all of whom she loved dearly. Calista was predeceased by her husband JimFriends are invited to visit with Calista's family on Thursday October 17, 2019 from 5-7pm in the JS Pelkey and Son Funeral Home 125 Old Post Road Kittery Maine 03903 . A memorial service will be celebrated on Friday the 18th at 11am in the funeral home with Burial to follow at Mt Pleasant Cemetery in Eliot. A luncheon will follow at the First Congregational Church UCC In Eliot. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.jspelkeyfuneralhome.com .
