Eliot- James Fulton Beal Sr, 60 of Sargent's Lane in Eliot died on May 2, 2017 following a period of declining health with his loved ones by his side.
Born on July 17, 1956 he was a son of Alvah Sr. and Patricia Beal. He was raised in Kittery attending local schools until late in high school when he and his family settled in Eliot and he graduated from Marshwood High School with the class of 1974.
Jim began a nearly thirty year career as a law enforcement officer working in the towns of North Berwick and New Castle before a long career with the Department of Defense Police Department at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He began as a patrolman working his way up through the ranks retiring in 2013 as a Captain and Watch Commander. During his tenure at the PNSY Police Department he worked closely with training, especially the range where he served for over fifteen years as the range master. He earned a " Best Practice " award from the Department of the Navy for implementation of lead free ammunition on the range and worked closely with the design and production of the new range facility.
In 1975 he married his soul mate of nearly forty two years Kim ( Junkins ) Beal and together they enjoyed so much as a family, boating, camping, their many pets, motorcycle riding, photography owning and operating Beal Photography for many years.
A talented writer Jim also penned the Caroline Rose series of books under the name of Jay Fulton they were published and widely enjoyed by many.
His first love was unquestionably his family, time spent with his children and grandchildren were very special to him. He is survived by his wife Kim A.(Junkins), Mother Patricia M. Beal,Brther Alvah L. Beal Jr,Son James F. Beal Jr and spouse Adrienne, daughter Kelley R. Buchanan and spouse James. Grandson Spencer James, granddaughter Emily Ann Grandson Alex James, grandson Owen James. Mother and father in-law Ed and Ellleanor Junkins. Brother-in-law and best friend Everett Junkins. Sister-in-law Susan Hallam and spouse Jay, sister-in-law Joanna Cote and spouse Gary. Special aunts Gwen Kelley, Lettie Baumann, and Earlene Kelley. Many cousins, nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews.
Friends may visit with Jim's family on Sunday from 6-8 pm in the JS Pelkey Funeral Home 125 Old Post Road Kittery Maine 03904.
