Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our beloved Carole Ann (Gardner) Crosby. Carole left us on October 3, 2024, at York Hospital surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer. Her presence will be deeply missed, and the void she leaves behind is immeasurable.

Carole was born in Farmington, ME, to Raymond A. Gardner and Zelma F. (Slye) Gardner. She spent her childhood in Newburyport, MA, where she attended Newburyport High School and met the love of her life, Charles "Charlie" Crosby. Their love story led to a beautiful marriage on September 8, 1963, and together they built a life filled with love and happiness for 53 years until Charlie's passing in 2016.

A devoted wife and mother, Carole's passion for creating a warm and inviting home was evident in her impeccable sense of interior design. She cherished moments spent with her family, especially enjoying meals at Barnacle Billy's and participating in her book group. Carole's exceptional baking and cooking talents, particularly her renowned cheesecake, brought joy to all who had the pleasure of tasting her creations.

Carole is survived by her daughters, Kirsten L. Crosby Stevens and her partner Rick Ellsmore, Kim A. Crosby and her husband Rich Wilbur, her granddaughters Allyson Zocco (Danny Triplett) and Rebecca Zocco, her brother Wayne Gardner and his wife Linda, along with numerous friends and cousins who held a special place in Carole's heart.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Charles Crosby Courage Award at Norwich University in Northfield, VT. This award honors graduating student-athletes who have shown remarkable resilience in the face of adversity throughout their college careers.

Carole's legacy of love and strength will forever remain in our hearts. Her memory will continue to inspire us to cherish each moment with our loved ones.
