Catalina “Cat”
Janet Smith
Feb 16, 2007 — Oct 29, 2021
Kittery- "So, here's the thing". Catalina "Cat" J. Smith, 14, of Kittery died unexpectedly on October 29, 2021 at her home with her family by her side.
Born in York, Maine on February 16, 2007, the daughter of the late Rachael and Samuel Smith, she was a charismatic member of the eighth grade at Shapleigh Middle School in Kittery.
Cat was a very special person, interested in all things about life, art, Pikachu, Scooby-Doo, and so much more. Her physical limitations were only a barrier for others; for her, they were just a part of living and never stopped her from being an active, loving teenager. She had a loving, smart, adventurous heart, coupled with the intensity and imagination to make her one of the most colorful, sarcastic, and creative teens.
Cat had a deep love for animals, and with her honest, inquisitive and curious ways she could light up a room, or entertain with her talent on YouTube, her ability to joke and eternal optimism.
Cat loved life, and encouraged others even when life was difficult for her. As the self-proclaimed Pizza Palace princess, she could be a flirt and win over almost anyone, she could belt out a beautiful song, tell a joke, or throw out a witty pun at an instant. She loved the public library, and looked forward to every trip.
She is survived by her loving brothers and sisters; Sheldon and Kasie Stroheker, and Turtle and Piper Smith, great-grandma Marga, grandparents Sherri and Howard Bonwell, as well as Uncle Eric and Aunt Jacqui, cousins Lola and Wyatt, Uncles and Aunts Leslie and Mary , Karen, Laurie, Jim and Tricia, Glen and Paulette and their families, and Grunkle Robert and Patti. Thanks and love to Grunkle Daniel, who opened up the world to her, and countless others.
Friends are invited to visit with her family on Saturday from 10-12 in the JS Pelkey and Son Funeral Home at 125 Old Post Road, Kittery, Maine 03904 . Visitors are encouraged to wear their favorite Pokémon attire or yellow to honor her love of all things "Pikachu" amongst her many joys in life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Loeys-Dietz Syndrome Foundation at c/o Marfan Foundation, 22 Manhasset Ave , Port Washington, NY 11050, "Robbie Foundation" POB 1534, Scarborough, Maine 04070 or to Boston Children's Hospital at 401 Park Drive Suite 602, Boston, Massachusetts 02215 .
