Obituary

Catherine Frances Thomas (Nee' O'Malley), aka "Kiki," passed away peacefully in the loving arms of her husband, Kenneth Francis Thomas, and her children on Tuesday Aug. 27th, 2024.

Catherine was a lifelong resident of Eliot, Maine. She was raised in South Eliot, where she was a proud Irish Catholic and the eldest of five O'Malley's. She attended St. Patrick's Parochial School in Portsmouth, NH. Until the eighth grade. She then began High School at Eliot High, where she met the love of her life, Ken, or Kenny, as she fondly called him. She was captain of the cheerleaders, and he was the Football star. They married at St. Raphaels Church in Kittery, Maine, on April 14th, 1956. They went on to have four children and nineteen grand/great-grandchildren.

She was blessed with 68 years of marriage to her beloved Kenny, and before starting a family, their blissful journey briefly took them to Key West, FL, and Charleston SC, while Ken was in the Navy. They then settled in Eliot Me. and Ken built a lovely home on Greenwood St. where they would raise their four children.

She was the epitome of a Domestic Engineer/homemaker and fully devoted herself to raising her family while also caring for her widowed Mother Mary O'Malley. She was very dedicated, and she and Ken would attend many of her children's and grandchildren's events. She helped care for and raise her grandchildren and was always available to look after her grandbabies whenever needed.

As her own children grew, she enjoyed reading and volunteered at the William Fogg Library and substituted at Eliot Elem. School. She was also enthusiastic about her part-time job at Brown's jewelry store in downtown Portsmouth. The gift of gab was bestowed upon her, as she met many wonderful customers and made many friends. Catherine and Ken also enjoyed traveling with their best friends, Ron and Sybil Raitt. Their journeys took them across the United States and to Italy and her ancestral home of Ireland. Also, several fond memories were made with the Thomas/Raitt camping trips with all their kids.

Above all, Catherine loved spending time with her family and will be deeply missed by all. She is predeceased by her father and mother, Stanton and Mary O'Malley, and her brother, John O'Malley. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Kenneth Thomas of Eliot; her sister, Virginia Morgan of New Market; her brother, Thomas O'Malley and his wife, Kathy of Eliot; her brother, Steve O'Malley, and wife, Barbara of Clearwater, FL. Her son Timothy Thomas and wife Renee of South Berwick Me. Son Terrance and wife Sharon of Eliot. Me. Daughter Sheila Lokken and husband Joe of Eliot Me. And daughter Brenda DuFault and Paul of Plymouth, MA. Grandchildren: Melissa Walker, Corey Thomas, Chelsea Ely, Amy Chase, Courtney Thomas, Connor Thomas, Ashley Lokken, Terrin Thomas, Cameron DuFault, Bradley Lokken, and Kyra DuFault, as well as several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
