Obituary

Kittery Point- Charles P. Brooks, formerly of 82 Brave Boat Harbor Road in Kittery Point died on Sept. 13, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.

Charlie was born on February 14,1933 in Kittery Point Maine, a son of the late Raymond and Mildred (Witham) Brooks.  Charlie is predeceased by his loving wife Jane (Place) of 62 years and his brother Raymond "Emmy" Brooks.

When he was young, Charlie made his home in Kittery Point where he attended local schools and graduated from Traip Academy.  He then joined the submarine service and served on the USS Grampus.  It was at that time that he met Jane and spent many weekends driving from Virginia to Maine to spend time with her.  Upon marrying her in 1957 they raised their family in Kittery Point in a home that they built together.

Charlie then spent 31 years working for Public Service before he retired in 1988.

Charlie and Jane enjoyed retirement to the fullest and loved to travel.  Lifelong friends Charlie & Pat Tobey and Allen & Ann Hale were valued and loved travel companions.

Charlie also enjoyed time spent with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, especially holidays and time spent at camp all together. "Grampa" was often the instigator of lots of fun!

Charlie is most known for his love of wood and could often be found working in his wood pile, cutting and splitting wood.  Other hobbies included woodworking, hunting and fishing, lobstering, and in later years reading any books on the topic of the navy.

He will he missed by those who knew and loved him including son Robert Brooks, Robert's daughter Kristen Tumolo & husband Nick, son Alan Brooks & his wife Ann Brooks, their blended family Ryan Brooks & Colleen George, Jennifer Brooks & Ian Cavanaugh, Dane & Tiffany Shaw, Erin Shaw, and Samantha (Brooks) Campbell.  Daughter Wendy (Brooks) Blouin & husband Leo Blouin, their daughter Emma Blouin.  Charlie's great-grandchildren are: Charlie, Chase, Owen, Atalie, Finlay with bonus great-grandchildren Broden, Kaden, Nevaeh, Aubrey, and Levi.   Additional family members are Charlie's brother in-law Richard Pruett and his children, niece Karen Webster, nephew Steve Pruett, niece Sandra Garrett and their families.

Graveside services will be celebrated Friday at 11 am in Brooks Memorial Park in Eliot, friends are invited to share condolences and memories by visiting www.jspelkeyfuneralhome.com .
