Obituary

South Berwick- Charles Edward Jones, 59 of Route 236 in South Berwick died suddenly on May 27, 2017 at Wentworth Douglass Hospital .
Born in Portsmouth New Hampshire on March 6, 1958 he was oldest son of the late Donald P. and Virginia (Dunning) Jones.
Charlie was raised in Eliot, where he attended school, graduating from Marshwood High School with the class of 1976.
Following high school he attended the University of Southern Maine and Andover Tractor Trailer School, in Andover Mass., where while attending school he met his loving wife of thirty seven years Pamela (DuBois) Jones.
Together they made their home in Eliot for many years before making a home in Portsmouth. Most recently they have enjoyed their home in South Berwick for ten years.
A career firefighter, Charlie served the City of Portsmouth Fire Department for over twenty three years, first as a firefighter then as a Fire Inspector, finally as the City Fire Marshall.
Following his retirement in 2003, he began a career as an electrician working primarily for Mike Regan throughout the Seacoast.
He always enjoyed a trip to a museum with his family, a number of trips to Hawaii with his wife, heading up to camp on Great East since he was a child. He loved gardening and mowing his lawn, waving to the passers-by beeping their hellos, or a weekly game of cards with dear friends Brandon & Janet. His most recent proudest day was watching his daughter Jesilynn graduate from New Hampshire Institute of Art with a bachelors of Fine Art Degree which meant so much because of her grandmother Virginia's artistic legacy.
His first love was unquestionably his family, he is survived by his wife Pamela of South Berwick, daughters Jenavive Dubois Jones of South Berwick and Jesilynn Dunning Jones of South Berwick, sisters Louise Jones of Eliot, Sylvia and her husband Larry Emery of Acton, and a brother Bruce Jones of Eliot, Mother-in-law Theresa Dubois of Kittery, Maine, and sister-in-laws, Patricia and her husband Maurice Bolduc of Hudson, NH, Debora Dubois of North Berwick , and Julie Dubois of Kittery, Maine, as well as a number of nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
