Kittery – Charles E. Reardon, Jr., 89, of Kittery, ME and Hampton, NH passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at the Partridge House in Hampton.

He was born on November 20, 1926 in Lynn, Massachusetts, a son of the late Charles E. Sr. and Katherine F. (Clooney) Reardon.

Charles served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and was present at the raising of the US Flag on Iwo Jima; he also served during the Korean War.

Prior to his retirement in 1977, he was employed in the design shop at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

Charles was a communicant of St. Raphael's Church in Kittery; was a proud member of the Fifth Marine Division Association; loved music and enjoyed dancing.

He was predeceased by his wife, Louise H. (Maldini) Reardon; sons, Kevin D. and Brian S.; brother, James D.; and two great grandchildren.

Survivors include his children, Charles E III and his wife, Mayta of Florida, James and his wife, Annette of Florida, and Erin DeBrodt and her husband, Paul of Kittery; 10 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a brother, Arthur Reardon and his wife, Ella of Portsmouth; and several nieces and nephews.

Services: A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00AM on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at St. Raphael's Church, 6 Whipple Road, Kittery, ME. Interment with military honors will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Portsmouth, in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local Salvation Army.
