Milton - Christine Janice Messier, 60, died peacefully at home on Sunday June 28, 2020. Christine was born on June 28, 1960, the daughter of Lois (Keelty) Carignan.
Christine leaves her loving family: her brother John Carignan, daughter Leigh Ann Messier and her fiance Mason Welch, son Denis Messier and wife Katherine Freeman, and beloved grandchildren George and William. Christine also leaves her devoted longtime companion and best friend, Paul Tanguay.
Christine was predeceased by her mother, Lois (Keelty) Carignan.
Christine grew up in South Berwick, graduating from Marshwood High School in 1978. Christine enjoyed her work throughout the years, in the Deli at Shaw's, the Bakery at Market Basket, Duston's Bakery, and at Philbrick's Fresh Market. Christine also enjoyed her years working for food service at Somersworth High School, having fond memories of her colleagues.
When Christine was not able to work, she dedicated her life working with various rescue organizations advocating and caring for dogs with special needs. Over the years, Christine and Paul took in many dogs that were older, blind, or deaf. Christine's kindness and generosity will be remembered and treasured. Christine leaves behind her dogs Webster, Fenway, and Trudy.
Christine's family would like to give a special thank you to the late Dr. Bruce Samuels, and Dr. Harrison "Hap" Farber from Tufts Medical Center.
A graveside service will occur on Thursday, July 9th, at 1pm, at Mt Calvary Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Somersworth NH.
All guests who attend the graveside service are required to wear masks at all times due to Covid-19 and will be asked to maintain social distancing per CDC guidelines. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Pope Memorial Humane Society of the Cocheco Valley (or another no-kill rescue organization of your choice) in memory of Christine.
