Obituary

Somersworth- Mrs. Claire Turgeon Gingras, 92, died Saturday January 17th at the Varney Crossing Nursing Home, North Berwick, Maine. She was born in Somersworth, NH on October 20, 1922, and was the daughter of Adjutor and Marie (Gaudreau) Turgeon. She attended St Martin's School and Holy Rosary High School. She married Isidore Gingras from Rochester, NH where they lived most of their adult lives, raised their three children and attended Church at Holy Rosary Parish. Claire moved to Wells, Maine with her husband in 1982 and lived in the Wells and Kennebunk area for over 30 years. She was a member of St. Mary's church in Wells, Maine. Claire was very active in her church community, loved family reunions at the beach, enjoyed gardening and loved flowers. She enjoyed long walks on the beach with her husband and family. She was an accomplished seamstress and excellent cook. She especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren and witnessing each and every milestone. Claire was also an outstanding business woman who had a successful cake decorating business and flea market career. She held numerous secretarial and office positions in the shoe manufacturing industry. She was predeceased by her husband Isidore Gingras, her brothers Rev. Armand A. Turgeon, Rev. Joseph Turgeon, and Alyre Turgeon; her sisters Margaret Perreault, Irma Bernier, Dora Guinard, Theresa Tetreault, Beatrice Turgeon and Gabriel Dodge. She is survived by her 3 children and their spouses, Martin Gingras and his wife Michele of Victor, NY, Jeannine Gingras and her husband Nelson Leatherman of Rock Hill, SC., and Rene Gingras and his wife Shelly of Strafford, NH., 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and one living sister, Armande Hughes of Nashua, NH. Calling hours will be from 9am to 10:30 am on Monday, January 26th in the Bernier Funeral Home, 49 South St., Somersworth, NH. A mass of Christian burial will follow in St. Martin Church in Somersworth at 11am, with Fr. Michael Taylor as celebrant. Care for the Gingras family has been entrusted to the Bernier Funeral Home.
