Somersworth - Claire Lapointe, 93, formerly a long time resident of Mt. Auburn Street in Somersworth, died on September 10, 2014 at the Rochester Manor in Rochester, NH. Born in Somersworth on June 26,1921 she was a daughter of Joseph and Elmina ( Turgeon) Lapointe. She was raised in Somersworth, attending local schools including St. Martin Academy. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Martin Catholic Church. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed in area shoe factories, retiring in 1983 from Robert Shoe. Claire is survived by her sister Rita Lapointe, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sisters: Elmina Audet, Jeannette Poitras, and Irene and Lucille Lapointe, brothers: Roland, Joseph and Robert Lapointe. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 15, 2014 at 11 am in St Martin Church in Somersworth with Fr. Michael Taylor as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Care for the Lapointe family has been entrusted to the Bernier Funeral Home.
