Obituary

Clement Clem Melanson, 52, of Somersworth, died Thursday October 24, 2013 at Wentworth Douglass Hospital surrounded by loved ones. He was born February 20, 1961 in Rochester the son of Clement C and Beatrice (Ripley) Melanson. Clem was a graduate of Somersworth High School class of 1979. After which he served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps, being stationed in Okinawa and completing a tour in Korea. He was the recipient of multiple Meritorious Mast awards as well as a Certificate of Good Conduct. His exemplary service to his country was something he remained proud of. After serving, Clem returned to his hometown working as a carpenter where he remained until his death. He was predeceased by both parents. Surviving sisters Mary Melanson, Bonnie Michaud, and brother Ed Melanson; nieces and nephews; along with great nephews and great nieces. Clem was an avid outdoors man enjoying the ocean, fishing, boating, hunting, snowmobiling, 4 wheeling, and camping. He also loved spending as much of his free time with close friends in Fryeburg, Maine at Camp Ettowah. The family would like to thank the staff in the Critical Care Unit at Wentworth Douglass Hospital for their phenomenal work, compassion, and care. A memorial service will be held at the Veterans of Foreign War in Somersworth on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 2 pm. Arraignments being handled by Bernier Funeral Home in Somersworth.
