Obituary

Curtis Freeman Chapman Jr. passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 15 with his family by his side. Curtis was born on April 22, 1925, the son of Curtis and Pauline (Miller) Chapman. He graduated from Porter High School and served with the Army Air Force in the Flying Tiger Division in WWII. Curtis married Betty Wiley on June 29, 1947 and worked many years as a carpenter and then a planner estimator at the Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard. He lived with his wife in the house he built in 1952 until his death. He loved golfing, fishing, researching family genealogy, traveling the US, spending time with his family and woodworking with them. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, his son Curtis and his wife Wendy of Beaverton OR, his daughter Karen Benoit and husband Timothy of South Berwick, granddaughter Erin Chapman and her husband Alex McGladrey, granddaughter Nicole Benoit and her husband Nouri Mahmud, and grandson Trevor Chapman, and preceded by his son Bruce. A funeral at 2 PM on Sunday October 18th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the 2nd Christian Church of Kittery, Side by Side Capital Campaign, 33 Government Street, Kittery, ME 03908 or your favorite charity.
