Obituary

Dale R. Hillsgrove, born March 7, 1957, in Rochester, New Hampshire, passed away on January 27, 2026, from complications following a severe stroke.

Dale was born in Rochester and spent his life working hard across many fields. He held positions at Davison Rubber, Neslab, and in hotel maintenance, along with several other roles over the years. He was known for his steady work ethic, his quiet dependability, and the way he showed up for the people around him.

For a time, Dale traveled and lived outside New Hampshire, spending several years away. Eventually, he returned home to New England and settled in Somersworth, NH, where he lived for a few years.

He loved enjoying good spicy food, animals including his brother's ducks, and fishing. He loved traveling up the Kancamagus Highway and just visiting his family and friends.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents, David R. Hillsgrove Sr. and Mabel E. Canney.

He is survived by his brothers; David Hillsgrove and his wife Dorene, Darryl Hillsgrove and his wife Karen, and by his four sisters; Donna Hart, Darlene Smith and husband Paul, Sandra Cincotta, and Beth Durfee. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will remember him.

Dale was a caring, honorable, and deeply intelligent man — more than he ever gave himself credit for. Generosity was simply part of his nature. His friends and family will miss him dearly and will carry their love for him until they see him again.

A private family celebration of Dale's life will be held in the spring. He will be laid to rest with his mother at Pine Hill Cemetery in Dover, New Hampshire.
