Obituary

Dana Alan Tobey, 70, of Eliot, Maine, passed away peacefully on April 29,2024, at Wentworth Senior living after a brief battle with Parkinson's Disease. Dana was born on September 8, 1953 to Alice and Charles Tobey.

He graduated from Marshwood High School and Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute. After working a few years at White's Farm and Garden; Dana then worked for Tobey Sheet Metal Company, eventually becoming the owner after his Dad's retirement.

Dana had many interests. Stock car racing was one he loved. He had crazy mechanical talent and was crew chief for several racing teams competing in the American Canadian Tour.

Dana was born with the gift of Music. He was self taught; starting at the age of three, playing at Christmas time with his toy piano. He later took organ lessons and continued playing for the rest of his life. Dana played in several rock bands in the Seacoast area in his younger years. Later he became the organ player for the First Congregational Church of Eliot. Dana enjoyed playing the piano for the residents of Wentworth Senior Living, where he had been residing for the last year.

Dana's greatest love in his life was his son Ian. He was a kind and loving father. He always looked forward to taking his dog Zelda and Ian boating on Lake Winnepesaukee.

Dana is survived by his mother Alice Tobey of Eliot, ME.; son, Ian Tobey of Eliot, ME.; brothers, David and wife Debbie Tobey of Grand Lake Stream, ME, Dale and wife Joanne Tobey of Grand Lake Stream, ME, Daniel Tobey and wife Gail of Eliot, ME.; sister, Debra Lindsey and husband Steve of Groton NH; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Dana was predeceased in death by his father, Charles G Tobey.

A funeral service will be held on May 9th, 2024, at 11:00 am, at the First Congregational Church of Eliot UCC, 1361 State Road, Eliot, Maine,03903. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Congregational Church of Eliot UCC. Care for the Tobey Family has been entrusted to the JS Pelkey & Son Funeral Home.
