Obituary

Darryl Andrew Dahlen of Kittery Point, Maine died of a heart attack on December 31, 2024. Born on January 11, 1971 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Darryl was a graduate of Traip Academy. Following high school, he served in the United States Army, where he completed boot camp at Fort Benning, Georgia, and studied German and Spanish at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California. His military career was cut short by a parachuting injury, leading to an honorable discharge.

After military service, Darryl's entrepreneurial spirit and thirst for knowledge led him to pursue pre-med studies at the University of Southern Maine and own a bar in Portland, Maine. Eventually, he found his calling in the financial lending industry, founding Archer Capital Partners in 2016.

Darryl was a man of many interests and talents. His warm smile, quick wit, and kind heart made him the center of every room he entered. An avid lover of classic cars, he delighted in attending car shows, sharing stories with fellow enthusiasts and showcasing his beautifully restored vehicles. His faithful dog, Mabel, was a constant companion during these outings.

Beyond his interest in cars, Darryl was an expert at restoring WWII firearms, specifically the M1 Garand. Whether skeet shooting, exploring the mountains and woods around the family camp at Shin Pond, or attending events at the Music Hall, Darryl embraced life's simple joys. His true love, however, was his friends and community. Darryl adored his Seacoast and Church of Spruce Creek families where his generosity and faith will leave a lasting impact. Darryl also had a meaningful, decade-long relationship with his on-line gaming community in West Virginia and Michigan where he was known as "DoubleD" and was valued for his in-game antics and off-line friendship.

Darryl was predeceased by his loving parents, Marvin Dahlen and Ofelia Amador Dahlen. He is survived by his six siblings: Mario, Pete, and Richard Hayes; David and Kristina Dahlen; and Delora Henderson. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, cousins, and an extensive circle of cherished friends and chosen family. Darryl's beloved dog will continue to be loved and cared for by his sister Kristina.

Darryl's legacy is one of warmth, laughter, and unwavering dedication to his passions and community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Details for a celebration of life service will be shared at a later date. Care for the Dahlen family has been entrusted to the JS Pelkey & Son Funeral Home.
