Eliot- David A Emery 76, of Johnson Lane in Eliot, died on November 28, 2019 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital following a period of failing health.
Born in Newport NH on May 28, 1943 eldest son of the late Franklin and Ethel (Manosh) Emery. He was raised in Eliot, graduating from Eliot High School with the class of 1962.
David served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Robert E Lee, USS Tinosa, USS Dace, USS Albacore and USS Cony. He was a proud member of the Rollinsford American Legion Post.
In 1963 David married his loving wife Ann (Goodwin) Emery and for a time they made their home in Kittery, before building their home and raising their family on Johnson Lane in Eliot. Over the years Dave served as the unofficial "Road Commissioner " ensuring Johnson Lane was graded, plowed and filled when needed, enjoying taking his tractor down to spreadfill or grade the road.
He was employed for many years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard beginning in the Electronic Shop and retiring as a supervisor in Planning and Estimating. He began a career with Sprague Energy traveling to all their many terminals between Searsport to West Virginia and Albany working on their computer systems. What was a career also became a business working on many computers in his home, keeping desktop computers running for many folks, as well as installing and maintaining computers in the William Fogg Library, the Eliot Police Station and Town Offices.
He was a fix it kinda man who loved to buy and fix many cars over the years. He could take apart and fix nearly anything and was always willing to share his knowledge with others especially family and friends. He enjoyed time spent together with family at camp on Great East lake and was very happy fishing anywhere he could.
David is survived by his loving children; son Scott Emery, daughter Lisa and her husband John Lapierre, son Christopher and his wife Deborah Emery, son Eric Emery and his fiancé Danielle Breton, grandchildren ; David and his wife Lauren, Alicia Lapierre, John Jr. and his wife Jenna Lapierre, Aiden,Ella, Mabel and Everett Emery, great grandchildren Connor, Colton and Josie and his brother Richard "Rick" Emery. He was predeceased by his loving wife Ann, brothers Franklin Jr "Peanut", Gerald, and Bruce.
A funeral will be celebrated on Saturday December 7, 2019 at 11am in the First Congregational Church of Eliot UCC 1361 State Road Eliot Maine 03903, with the Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Hoffman Officiating. A Time of sharing and refreshment will follow at the Rollinsford American Legion on Foundry Street in Rollinsford, NH, all are welcome to join his family and friends there.
