Eliot- David M. Oeser, 73 of Goodwin Road in Eliot died peacefully on June 25th 2023 at his home surrounded by his wife and their two sons, following a long battle against dementia.
Born on February 3, 1950 in Portsmouth NH, he was a son of the late Richard and Lois (Milliken) Oeser. David was raised in Rye. He attended Rye and Portsmouth schools as well as the Miami Military Academy.
Dave worked as a commercial fisherman out of Rye Harbor for many years, as well as a nuclear pipe-fitter at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He retired from the Town of Eliot Highway Department after working there for over fifteen years.
An avid out of doors man, Dave and his wife enjoyed their camp on the Narraguagus River in Beddington Maine for many years after retirement. Throughout his life he spent a tremendous amount of time hunting moose, deer and pheasants along side his German Shorthaired Pointers . He also enjoyed any type of fishing, especially harpooning tuna fish. He was always willing to share the stories of their catch.
His first love was unquestionably his family, his loving wife of fifty-four years Lauren (Barnes) Oeser, sons David Jr and his wife Gina of Portsmouth, NH, and Charles and his wife Carla of Kennebunk, ME, granddaughters Capri Fiandaca of Portsmouth, Brooke Philbrook of Saco, ME, and grandson Justin Hockney of Merrill, ME, a sister Nancy Shapleigh and brothers Steve, Bob and Rick Oeser and their families. He was predeceased by his sister Sarah "Sally" Lewin and his brothers Paul and Jim.
Friends are invited to visit with David's family on July 11, 2023 from 5-7pm in the JS Pelkey and Son Funeral Home 125 Old Post Road Kittery Maine 03904. On line condolences may be made by visiting www.jspelkeyfuneralhome.com. Family flowers only, donations may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
