DURHAM - David M. Visconte, 89, of Durham, formerly of Rochester, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2013 at Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover, surrounded by his loving wife of 67 years, Hank, as well as his sons, daughter and grandchildren. Born in Boston, Mass. on March 27, 1924, he was the son of Michael J. and Carmella (Porazzo) Visconte, and resided in East Boston, where he attended local schools before enlisting in the United States Navy. David proudly served as a range finder during World War II in the Pacific Theatre aboard the USS Boston, dubbed the "miracle ship" for the ferocity of the battles they endured and survived. Following his discharge from service, he hurried home to marry his local sweetheart, Henrietta (Hank) Visconte, formerly of Saugus, Mass. Together they raised a family of 5 in Peabody, Mass., where they resided until retirement. David is survived by his beloved wife, Hank, his sons and daughters-in-law, David and NancyVisconte Jr., RichardVisconte, George and PenneyVisconte, Paul and Kathy Visconte, and his daughter and son-in-law Sandie and Ken Powers, 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. A memorial service will celebrate his life on the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, this Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, located at 22 Fox Run Road, Newington N.H., 02081.
