It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of David Matthew Zbink, age 70, who left his earthly body on August 6, 2026, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Limestone, Maine, David grew up in Maynard, Massachusetts, and later called Clinton, Massachusetts home. He eventually returned to the state of his birth, finding a deep connection to the coastal town of Kittery, where he resided and found great joy in the seaside landscape. Fort Foster Park was one of his favorite places for its quiet peacefulness.

Driven by a brilliant mind and a sharp technical intellect, David earned a degree in Computer Science from Boston University and went on to build a successful career in the computer field as an engineer, analyst, and software developer. His curiosity also extended into a deep passion for stock market analysis; long before artificial intelligence became mainstream, David was already exploring and discussing its potential applications in the financial world.

David was a man of deep contemplation, committed to an intentional spiritual journey that became central to his life. He dedicated much of his time and heart to the study of Kabbalah, a practice that shone through in his profound love for animals and his absolute commitment to harming no living thing. This respect was softly illustrated by his practice of catching and releasing any insects found in his home, and he even avoided using the grill on his deck to preserve a bees' nest that had settled underneath it. His inner focus was also built upon a foundation of remarkable physical discipline; in earlier years, he dedicated himself to the martial arts, culminating in his achievement of the respected sufi (teacher) level in Tai Chi Ch'uan, Qi Gong and Tai Chi Self Defense applications.

He was equally passionate about the arts, particularly the culinary arts and music. Possessing a deep love for cooking and eating good food, David found great joy in creating a wide variety of dishes and loved to impress others with specialized meals like beef wellington. He spent much of his time enjoying these culinary experiences and sharing memorable meals in the warm company of his soul mate, Donna, and her family. Alongside his culinary expressions, he was an exceptionally talented guitarist.

David poured his passion into playing classical, 12-string, and acoustic guitar, and he spent countless hours creating curated playlists of the music he enjoyed.

David was a kind, gentle, and thoughtful soul, and his quiet warmth will be profoundly missed by the family he leaves behind. He is survived by his girlfriend and soul mate, Donna Dubois Miller, with whom he shared his life and heart. He leaves behind his loving sister, Roxanne Collins, and her wife, Lynn Fletcher; his sister-in-law, Linda

Zbink; and his three nieces, Ashley Collins, Brittany Celebrano, and Ayla Zbink. David was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Albertine and Matthew Zbink, and his brother, Mark Zbink.
