Obituary

On March 9th 2013, Mr. Delmore C. Guilmette, surrounded by his loving family, died at Wentworth Douglass Hospital following a brief illness. The son of George Guilmette and Melina (Laliberte) Guilmette, Del was born in Somersworth, NH on July 2, 1932. Del was a lifelong resident of Somersworth graduating from Somersworth High School in 1951. He served on the Somersworth City Council from 1978 to 1982 and was actively involved in the boosters club for over 10 years. Del served his country in the US Navy from 1951 to 1955 and was an active member of the Catholic War Vets. As a devout catholic, Del was a member of St. Martin s Parish his entire life. He was actively involved with the church, serving as an usher for many years as well as assisting with the annual Penny Sale. He was also a member of the Holy Name Society Del worked for Chabot s Dairy as a delivery driver. In 1992, Del retired from the meter department of General Electric after 29 years of service. After his retirement, Del enjoyed frequent trips with his wife, especially to Foxwoods Casino. Del s life was centered on his family and he enjoyed playing cards and spending summer vacations at Wells Beach with them. Del also enjoyed sports and was a diehard Yankee s fan. Del is survived by his wife of 55 years, Vivian (Gagnon) Guilmette of Somersworth, NH, his daughter Denise Lincoln and her husband Walter of Northborough, MA, his son David Guilmette and his wife Susan of Chester, NJ, his grandson William Lewis of Bethlehem, PA, his granddaughter Melissa (Lewis) Cullingford and her husband Brian of New York, NY, his grandson Matthew Lewis of Worcester, MA, his grandson Cameron Guilmette of Boston, MA, his granddaughters Abigail Guilmette, Katie Guilmette and Elizabeth Guilmette of Chester, NJ, his step-grandson Christian Lincoln and his wife Kristy of Dudley, MA, his step-grandson Jonathan Lincoln and his wife Christine of Millbury, MA, five step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister Gertrude Rimbaud of Mt. Pleasant, SC and his sister Henriette Guilmette of Somersworth, NH. Del was predeceased by his siblings Richard Guilmette, Leo-Paul Guilmette, Madeline Gagne, Bernard Guilmette, Constance Viel, Jeannine McAdam, and Conrad Guilmette. Calling hours will be at Beriner Funeral Home, 49 South Street, Somersworth, NH on Friday, March 15th from 4:00 PM 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. George Desjardins at St. Ignatius of Loyola St. Martin Catholic Church, 121 Maple Street, Somersworth, NH on Saturday, March 16th at 10:30 AM. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in the spring.
