Obituary

Kittery Point, ME - Our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and dear friend, Dennis Seaward Estes, Sr, of Kittery Point, Maine passed away peacefully, with his wife and son at his side, on April 18, 2023 in York Hospital, after a recent cancer diagnosis.

Born February 16, 1950 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Dennis was the second son of Frank and Edith Estes of Kittery Point.

Dennis will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of 45 years, Linda, son, Dennis Jr of Boston, and his three brothers and their families: Glenn and his wife Jill, their son Timothy and his wife Katy; their daughter Emily and her husband, Ron; Scott and his wife Janice and Scott's son Samuel; and Kirk, his wife Angela and their son Tyler and their daughter Lauren and her husband Marcus. He also leaves several cousins, nieces and nephews and many, many friends.

Dennis was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Stephen and his infant sister, Terry Lynn.

He was a 1968 graduate of Robert W. Traip Academy and attended Bryant & Stratton College in Boston studying business management. He owned and operated a successful property management and maintenance business for many decades.

Dennis was a life-long "Pointer" who loved boating, photography, gardening and pretty much entertaining everyone he knew or met with his quick wit and gift of gab. To say that he was well known and well-loved in the area is a huge understatement.

While his son was in school, Dennis served as Rec League basketball coach, was a long-time member of the Boosters, and worked occasionally as a substitute teacher in the Kittery schools. He proudly served several terms on the Kittery Town Council in the 1980's, 1990's and early 2000's.

Dennis would never forgive us if we didn't mention the fact the he was a starter on the 1968 Maine State Class L Championship varsity basketball team. The 104 points that his team, the Traip Academy Rangers, scored in the Class L final was the most that had ever been scored in a Maine boys championship game.

A Celebration of Life in his honor will be held at a date to be announced.
