Obituary

Exeter - Dennis J Fitzgerald, 68 of Exeter River Landing and formerly a long time resident of Kittery Point passed away on June 8, 2019 at his home following a period of declining health.

Born in Amsterdam, NY on November 2, 1950, he was the son of the late Thelma H. Fuller and Pierce Fitzgerald, Sr. He was raised in Rexford, NY and attended local schools, graduating from Notre Dame Bishop Gibbons High School, furthering his education at Loyola in Montreal.

After he was married, he and his wife, Sandra Lutts, raised their family in Kittery Point where he owned and operated Fitzgerald Heating and Air Conditioning for over 15 years. He was also an active member of his community as one of the founders, active board member and volunteer at KCAP in Kittery, a former trustee of the First Christian Church in Kittery Point. He also served as a firefighter for over twenty five years in Vischer Ferry, NY, the City of Portsmouth Call Department and the Kittery Point Fire Department.

Dennis enjoyed a good dinner and conversation with friends, boating, skiing, live music, playing his guitar, and also enjoyed membership in the Seacoast Ski Club. He believed he was the kid that would never grow up and showed this by pulling jokes on others when the opportunity arose. His first love was unquestionably his family, and enjoying time spent with them was cherished.

He was predeceased by his brothers Pierce J. Fitzgerald, Jr, and Kevin M. Fitzgerald. He is survived by his loving daughter Ruth A. Lutts Fitzgerald, sister Pat, his brother Brian and his wife Pam, nieces Heather, Kelly, Briana, Michelle Weiler and her husband Tony, nephew James Frederick and wife Fiona, his good friend Patty Norton, and many other loving family members.
