Dominick Henry Cerabona of Eliot, Maine passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026, at the
age of 91. He was born on December 6, 1934, in New Britain, Connecticut, to John Joseph
Cerabona and Adriana Cerabona (née Mortera).
After graduating from the University of New Hampshire in 1958, Nick earned a Master's degree
in Education from the University of Maine in 1966. He devoted thirty-three years to teaching,
thirty of them at Marshwood High School, where he taught history and served as History
Department Chair for twenty-six years.
Nick married Janice Ann Hood in 1966, and together they had three wonderful children: twins
Susan Lee Cerabona and Theresa Ann Cerabona, and Marc Cerabona. In 1977, he married his
second wife, Jane Fraser, and helped raise her children, Richard Aldrich and Virginia Aldrich.
Nick was deeply engaged in his community. He enjoyed coaching, teaching driver's education,
and sharing his knowledge with others. He was an active member of St. Raphael's Church in
Kittery and loved to travel. His service extended through membership in the Knights of
Columbus, the Eliot Lions Club, and the Eliot Police Auxiliary. Later in life, he became an active
participant in Habitat for Humanity, working on projects in Guatemala and Ireland. He was
recently recognized by the Town of Eliot as Citizen of the Year, receiving the Fabian Drake
Citizenship Award. Nick was selfless, compassionate, and always cared for others. Above all,
he cherished spending time with his grandchildren.
Nick is survived by his brother, Louis Cerabona; his daughter Susan Peterson and son-in-law
Larry Peterson; his son Marc Cerabona and daughter-in-law Kristen Davis; his grandchildren
Cole and Riley Cerabona and Kelvin and Donasie Peterson; and his nephew John Alexander
and John's children, Caroline and Ben Alexander. He was predeceased by his daughter
Theresa Cerabona in 2005.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 from 3:00–6:00 p.m. at J.S. Pelkey and
Son Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at
St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Kittery, with a reception immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CLOVES Syndrome Community
(www.clovessyndrome.org) or The American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org) The
CLOVES Syndrome Community was founded by his daughter-in-law Kristen, in honor of his
granddaughter, Riley.
