Obituary

Somersworth- Doris Couture, 87 formerly of Pinecrest Drive in Somersworth died on Ash Wednesday at Wentworth Douglass Hospital. Born in Montville, Ct on December 23, 1927 she was a daughter of the late Henry and Emma ( Douchette ) LaPanne. She was raised in and attended schools in South Berwick. On May 6, 1950 she married her loving husband Alfred G. Couture Jr. andtogether they built a home on Pinecrest Drive, where they would raise a family and live for over sixty years. Doris retired from General Electric as an assembler after over twenty five years of dedicated service. She was a wonderful cook, enjoyed baking, and making meals for her family and loved to sew. She was a long time member of Holy Trinity Church, a greeter and member of the Our Lady of the Roses Prayer Group, and early in life a member of the American Legion Auxillary of Rollinsford Post #47. Her greatest love unquestionably was her family; time spent with them, especially her grand and great grandchildren with whom she cherished. She is survived by her family; daughter Darlene and her husband Donald Laquerre of Farmington, NH, daughter, Donna Gaudetteof Somersworth, NH, son, Steven and his wife Denise Couture of Rochester, NH, daughter Karen and her husband Nicholas "Bubba" Guy of Berwick, ME, son Brian Couture and his friendDonald Goodwin of Farmington, NH, fifteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren who she adored. Also her brother Roger Lapanne and his wife Eileen, sisters Delina and herhusband Robert Fortier, Rose Dionne, Marie and her husband Paul Michaud, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Alfred G. Couture Jr, sons Alan and Craig, son in law Gary Gaudette, granddaughter Jennifer Couture, and great grandson Timothy Anderson, bothers Henry, Ernest, Herbert Lapanne, sisters CorannaThibeault, Irene Nye and Delia Veno. Friends are invited to visit with Doris's family on Sunday from 4-6 pm in the Bernier Funeral Home 49 South Street Somersworth NH 03878. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11am in Holy Trinity Church with Fr. Michael Taylor as celebrant. A luncheon will follow in St. Martin's Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to American Epilepsy Foundation or American Cancer Society. Care for the couture family has been entrusted to the Bernier funeral home .
