Kittery - Dorothy Jean (Rainier) Bolton, aged 63, of Kittery, Maine passed away peacefully on April 4th surrounded by her family.

Dorothy, "Dot" was born on June 18, 1952 to parents Ralph Rainier and Elizabeth (Maby) Rainier. She grew up in Kittery, ME, graduating from Traip Academy with the class of 1970 and started what would become a long and successful career as a secretary. Dot married Gregory Bolton in the summer of 1973 and over the years lived in New Hampshire, Colorado, California, Maryland and Pennsylvania before returning to Maine to raise their family.

Dot was a beautiful person inside and out. She had many, many friends; always smiling and laughing and making everyone around her feel special. She had a generous heart, doing whatever she could to help strangers as well as friends, often without them knowing. She loved being a wife and mother and was "mom" to lots of her children's friends, but more recently her most special role has been "Grammie."

A fierce and loyal Denver Broncos fan, Dot was not above a little ribbing during football season, especially when Denver was playing the Patriots. Over the past several years she loved golf and would follow tournaments every weekend. Family and friends will miss watching games with her.

Dot loved being around children, so much so that in recent years she volunteered in Mrs. Davis' kindergarten class at the Mitchell School in Kittery. The kids adored her so much that they celebrated her with a special "Dot Day" to thank her for all of her help. She was also an advocate for the Breast Cancer Living Well Fund, speaking at events about her personal battle and assisting to raise funds.

She is predeceased by her father Ralph Rainier.

Dot is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Gregory Bolton of Kittery, ME, her son Benjamin Bolton, his wife Kaylan and two sons Gavin and Brennan of Grovetown, GA, her daughter Emily Bolton of Kittery, ME, her mother, Elizabeth Rainier of Kittery, ME and her brothers Stanley Rainier of Kent, WA, Philip Rainier of Lakewood, CA and Frederic Rainier of Rochester, NH.
