Dorothy Ford Kraft, of 434 New Hampton Rd., Franklin, NH, died April 7, 2015 at Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia, NH, following an extended time of failing health. Dorothy was born in Hartland, ME on April 21, 1925; her father was Carroll Ford of Hartland, ME, and her mother was Bertha (Halliday) Ford. Dorthy attended local schools and graduated from Hartland Academy. She completed her course at Fisher School in Somerville, MA with an honorary certificate of highest achievement in 1944. Dorothy met Joseph Kraft, of Kittery, in 1942 and they were married in 1946 after his return from WWII. They remained in Kittery and started a family. In 1996 Dorothy and Joseph celebrated 50 years of marriage with family and many friends at R.W.Traip Academy. Dorothy did very well with employment opportunities in the Kittery Town Office. She was an executive secretary to the manager from 1965 to 1974; assistant town clerk for a short period; deputy town clerk from 1977 to 1982; town clerk from 1982 to 1990; retiring in 1990(however, she worked part time as the manager's secretary from 1990 to 1995). Dorothy had many joys in her life: she loved her family and would work very hard to help provide whatever was needed; she loved being a Sunday school teacher and singing in the choir at church; she loved to travel to far away places in the world, such as Greece or the Holy Lands and closer places such as the United States from Maine to California; she loved gardening; she loved the Bible and Christian reading selections; and she loved meeting people. Dorothy loved a challenge and was never afraid of working hard; something she did until she was no longer physically able to do. Dorothy will be greatly missed by the many who knew her. She is survived by her children, Paula Jo Mattson of Franklin, NH, and Keith Kraft, her son, and his wife Carol, of Mendota Heights, MN, and by a younger brother Floyd Ford of Palm City, FL, as well as by six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Care has been entrusted to JS Pelkey Funeral Home.
