Eliot- Dorothy ( Spinney ) Manson 104, died peacefully in Rochester, NH on June 25, 2021.
A true native of Eliot, Dot was born on "Eliot Neck" on December 8, 1916 a daughter of the late Advill and Elsie (Wood) Spinney. She attended local schools graduating from Eliot High School with the class of 1935.
She married her loving husband the late Delwyn (Jim) Manson in 1940 and together they built a home raised their daughters in Eliot.
Following Jim's death she was blessed to be able
to remain in her home until this past year when
her declining health and the global pandemic made it necessary to move into her daughter Joyce and son in laws home in Farmington.
Dorothy was the holder of the Boston Post Cane as the oldest resident of her beloved Eliot an honor she held since 2015.
Dot's favorite things in life were time spent with family and special friends. She especially enjoyed her " Coffee Times" with all her friends at Dunkin Donuts.
She attended the South Eliot Advent Christian Church " The Little Church on the River" just steps from her home in South Eliot and dearly loved her church family. Had it not been for them, her loving neighbors and caregivers, she would not have been able to fulfill her wish to remain in her home in Eliot as long as she did.
Dorothy is survived by her oldest daughter Joyce (Mosher) Stevens and her husband Newton, son in law James Quinn and two sisters Phyllis Tamee of Wisconsin and Sybil and her husband Ronald Raitt of Fla, eight grand- children, sixteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband , she was predeceased by her youngest daughter Judith Quinn, her son in law David Mosher, great grand- daughter Allyson Sanfacon, two brothers David and Douglass Spinney, and three sisters Jeannette Paul, Elizabeth Hovey, and Ruth Furbish.
Dot's funeral will be held on Wednesday June 30, 2021 at 12:30 pm in the JS Pelkey and Son Funeral Home 125 Old Post Road Kittery, Maine 03904. In lieu of flowers donations my be made in her memory to your church, or the Eliot Firefighters Association 1323 State Road Eliot Maine. 03904. Care for the Manson family has been entrusted to the JS Pelkey and Son Funeral Home
