Kittery- Dorothy Catherine Trefethen, 94 of Kittery died peacefully on September 1,2026.

Born in Middletown, CT on March 27,1932 she was the daughter of Walter and Ladra Shina. She is survived by her 4 children; Keith and his wife Julia of Wells, daughter Robin of Kittery, daughter Lisa and her husband Joseph of South Carolina and son Scott and his wife Marla of Portland. 8 Grandchildren; Taryn, Colleen and her husband Josh, Brian and his wife Rachael, Brenna and her husband Nicholas, Dan, Benjamin, Samuel and Sydney and 4 great grandchildren; Levi, Tatum, Finley and Teagan.

She was predeceased by her husband Clifton Trefethen and son in law Daniel Nelson.

She grew up in Newmarket, NH, upon graduating high school she worked in the shoe factory. After marrying the love of her life, she moved to Kittery and worked as a teller at Key Bank and was in the Kittery school nutrition program.

She enjoyed playing the piano for any occasion whether it was a holiday or just a Wednesday afternoon you would always find her at the piano and listening to big band music; but most importantly you could always find her on the sidelines cheering her kids and grandkids on at any game or life event.

Above all else her family was the most important thing to her whether she was showing her kids or grandkids how to cook, or boating and fishing with the love of her life you would always see her at her happiest around the ones she loved most.

From all her family: Thank you for always being there, for loving us so deeply and for being such an important part in all our lives. You are forever loved and will be missed deeply.

Private services and burial will be held for family.
