Obituary

Kittery - Douglas S. Burton, 80, of Kittery, ME died Friday, January 8th, 2021 peacefully at his home surrounded by family. Doug was born September 15, 1940 in Kittery, Maine to the late Francis and Beatrice Burton. He grew up in Kittery and graduated from R.W. Traip Academy in 1958. He then joined the Air Force and served his country honorably for 4 years. He worked for 34 years at General Electric as a machinist, retiring in 1996. Afterwards, he worked several years at Cocheco Country Club as a grounds keeper. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying many days sharing both with his children and grandchildren. His happiest memories were times on Ebeemee Lake in northern Maine. Doug was a long time member of the Rochester Elks Lodge No. 1393, T.W. Cole Post 19 American Legion and a lifetime member of the NRA. He is survived by his wife Helen, daughter Kerri Bryant and her husband Jason, sons Daniel and Robert Kreider and grandchildren Douglas and Matthew Burton, Noah, Nathan and Grace Kreider, Ian and Justin Bryant. He was predeceased by his son, Paul D Burton. Burial will be in the spring at Southern Maine Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Springvale, Maine.
