Obituary

Kittery Point / Beddington - Edward, "Eddie", "Ed" Barsalou, 66, of Kittery Point, died December 3, 2016 at home, surrounded by his family after a brave and courageous battle with cancer.

Eddie was born on February 14, 1950 in Holyoke, MA, the son of Omer J. and Marie Allain Barsalou. He
was a 1968 graduate of Holyoke Trade High School in the field of mechanics. Upon graduation, he served in the Air National Guard for five years as a flight line mechanic.

In 1969, he married his kindergarten sweetheart and together they raised three children. in 1978, he
moved his family to Beddington, ME where he spent 20 years living in nature, working his large gardens, canoeing on Beddington Lake and hunting with friends. He worked many seasonal jobs from managing blueberry fields, eel fishing and worming. He was a commercial driver delivering lobster and sea urchins to the Boston and New York markets. In 1996, he came to the southern coast of Maine and continued his driving career. Until his forced retirement in 2015, he was the beloved bus driver for the residents of Kittery Estates.

He was an avid reader and an accomplished writer having written three novels, several children's books
and numerous poems. He loved spending time at his fog cabin known as "Papa's cabin" at Rangeley Lake. Spending precious time with his three grandchildren was joyous and they loved his storytelling and teasing. He loved spending time hunting and fishing with his only grandson, Cody.

Eddie was predeceased by his parents. He leaves his wife, Louise, of 47 years, his three children, Aimee
M. Kardulas and husband Daniel of Eliot, Nichole A. Barsalou of Kittery, E. Matthew Barsalou of Dover, NH. Three grandchildren, Cody E. Lemoi and his wife Taylor of South Berwick, Mercades X. Barsalou of York and Mychaela K. Kardulas of Eliot. One brother, George C. Barsalou of Holyoke, MA and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends.

Services: A celebration of Eddie's life will be held at Kittery Estates on January 14, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. and will be
officiated by Dr. Scott Ferreira. Because of Eddie's passion for writing, in lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in the memory of E. D. W ard to the Maine Writers & Publishers Alliance or the Rangeley Public Library.
